There’s nothing new about serving alcohol at receptions and rehearsal dinners, but lately cocktail culture is enjoying new enthusiasm. Thanks to the craft cocktail boom (if you can muddle it, infuse it or even smoke it, then it likely has appeared at a bar near you) and increased popular awareness and demand of everything from fine wine to local brews, serving up a plain vodka tonic just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Like every trend, the pendulum has started to swing back to center. Gone are the over-the-top, complicated, 15 exotic ingredient drinks. A move back to simplicity and appreciation for the basics — especially gin, whiskey and rum — is starting to take center stage.
