The wedding day in a word: Bliss Wedding theme: A New England Barn Wedding Favorite moment for the bride: When my daughter and her best friend sang "A Thousand Years" to us right before dinner. Favorite moment for the groom: Dancing together with my new wife and our children. Biggest surprise: Weather cooperation If you could do it all over again...: We would try to get people to stay later; maybe by having a fire pit or late-night dessert. We could have danced all night. Piece of advice: For a DIY wedding, get lots of help. If we had not had two friends come up and stay with us for two nights before and help for 48 hours, we never would have pulled it off as well as we did. Honeymoon: We stuck close because we are putting most of our disposable income into renovating our 1798 Colonial, so we went to Camden, Maine. Favorite honeymoon moment: Sitting each morning at breakfast at our B&B overlooking the water and chatting with other guests. Where they live: Tuftonboro, NH, and Alexandria, VA. We commute to each other...We see each other at least every other weekend and all major holidays, as well as vacations. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder! Occupations: Maria, government attorney; John, college president
