Do you need a microphone for a small ceremony?

From Joey Dion of A Main Event

Q. My wedding ceremony is going to be in the garden at my reception site, do I need microphones for the ceremony?

A. For a small wedding of 50 or so guests probably not. With a larger crowd I do recommend a lapelle mic for your Officiant and a mic on a stand for any readings, poems or songs. If your not shy and you want to make sure your guests to hear your vows then an additional lapelle mic for the groom is the way to go. When the bride and groom face each other both will be picked up by the grooms lapelle mic.
