Accessories & Apparel

1. A flower tucked into upswept hair is hot for wedding day dos. That's Jessica Wesley above – see her "Real Wedding" feature here.

2. The vintage look is in, from the birdcage veil to pillbox hats with a short veil to hair combs and headbands.

3. Color is the new white. Wedding gowns in non-traditional colors like red, pink, black and taupe are increasing in popularity.

4. Many brides are opting for two dresses. If you can't decide, you have both – one for the wedding ceremony and the other for the reception.

5. Fifties-style knee- and tea-length dresses with full skirts and bolero jackets.

6. In lieu of heavily beaded gowns, bows and belts are in.

7. Engagement rings and wedding bands created with tungsten carbide.

Cakes

8. Cakes that incorporate a wedding's theme – like the Asian one below (yes, that?s really a cake) – are quite popular.

9. For a classic look, many couples are opting to have a monogram incorporated into the design of their wedding cake and using their monogram as the theme for the wedding.

10. Cupcakes are still a big hit.

11. Back to the classic white wedding cake. Round with three tiers and covered in white frosting, either butter cream or fondant. Butter cream is popular these days because it's a money-saver.

12. Individual mini cakes at each place setting.

13. Groom's cakes are gaining in popularity. Choose a flavor that is his favorite and serve it at the rehearsal dinner, reception or give to the guests to take home.

14. Many couples want to enjoy their wedding cake on their first anniversary, but it never tastes quite the same as it did on your wedding day. Some bakeries are now offering an anniversary cake in the same flavor and often the same design to enjoy on your first anniversary.

15. For those who struggle with selecting a cake flavor, appeal to the masses with a different flavor in each layer.

16. In addition to the wedding cake, a dessert table filled with an array of pastries, cookies and chocolates are a huge treat for the guests and are visually appealing as well.

Colors

17. The hot colors for 2010 are bright cobalt blue, pink, peach, turquoise, bright yellow, black and any shade of purple. In addition, metal colors including gold, silver, copper and pewter are also in.

Drinks

18. Supporting your local economy with locally produced beer and wine is popular.

19. A signature cocktail, plus beer and wine, instead of a full bar.

20. Framing the name of your signature cocktail and the recipe and leaving it at the bar.

21. Stocking the bar with non-alcoholic high-energy drink concoctions.

22. In place of the old standby of regular and decaf coffee, be hip and have an espresso and cappuccino bar.

Favors

23. More thought is being put into thanking your guests for coming and many couples are giving favors that are keepsakes.

24. Gone are the days of the disposable camera on each table. Many couples are opting to have a photo booth that prints photos in duplicate – one for the guest and one to leave for the bride and groom.

25. A homemade family recipe like Aunt Edna's snickerdoodles in coordinated packaging.

26. Traditional favors are being replaced with candy buffets and build-your-own sundae bars.

27. Favors that do double duty, such as a place card tied to a candle holder.

28. Give a wedding favor that gives back – plantable wedding favors.

29. Rice throwing and traditional confetti is out and biodegradable confetti is in.

30. Giving to those who are less fortunate is always in style. Donating to a charity in lieu of favors continues to be all the rage.

Invitations

31. Go green and order invitations that are made of recycled paper printed with organic-soy ink. In addition, do away with the double envelope and include less information in your invitation package. Many couples are downsizing their invitations by directing guests to their wedding Web site that provides pertinent information such as hotels and directions and even inviting guests to RSVP online.

32. Stand out from the crowd and order invitations and envelopes in bolder colors to match your wedding instead of white.

33. Pocket invitations are popular when there are many pieces to include along with the invitation and reception cards. Many companies are offering mix-and-match pieces, so your invitations aren't one style fits all and are tailored to you.

Music & Entertainment

34. Be the latest YouTube sensation and wow the guests by learning a choreographed routine for the first dance as husband and wife.

35. Blend a DJ and a band. A jazz trio for the cocktail hour and a DJ for dinner and dancing.

36. Skilled turntable DJs who can create a unique mixture of music tailored to your guests

37. A kids' table with activities for the little ones. Complete with child-friendly centerpieces, a paper table cloth for coloring and goody bags filled with activities. Child-friendly food is a must as is leaving a baby sitter in charge. You won't be hearing, "I'm bored."

Decor & Miscellaneous

38. Keep it all in one place and create a vision board for what you would like your wedding to look like. Include photos of everything from hairstyle to flowers to swatches of colors.

39. Specialty lighting that shines your monogram on the dance floor.

40. Video streaming weddings online.

41. Adding a monogram to an aisle runner.

42. The Sweetheart table is a popular alternative to the once-popular head table.

43. From the garter toss to the bouquet toss, old traditions are making a comeback.

44. Having the florist move flowers from the church to the reception and arranging as centerpieces and table decor for other areas. Reuse, reuse, reuse. Your guests won't even notice.

45. Bringing back family traditions. Couples are incorporating more religious and ethnic traditions into the ceremony and reception.

46. Think green and keep the commute to a minimum. Host both the wedding ceremony and reception at the same location.

47. Guest books are old school. Have your guests sign something that won't be packed away. Signature plates, tablecloths or a photo book.
