Derek and I met in Boston after we graduated from college. I was in grad school and Derek was finalizing his application to the Marine Corps Officer Candidate Program. We both had jobs at a bar in Newton Centre, Mass. That was in the fall of 2007 and within a few months we realized we were meant for each other — the rest is history — snowboarding, Red Sox games, Irish pubs, weekends in the mountains and many shared ambitions and dreams. We quickly decided we needed to be together always, got engaged in Key West and started our adventure together.
