For a softer wedding look, opt to wear your hair down

Up-dos are still a bride fave, but more and more are opting for down. No question that Kate Middleton's fairy tale royal wedding accelerated the move to loose locks.

Tracy Hines of Tracy Hines Studio in Brentwood (tracyhinesstudio.com) says, "It's simpler. You can have soft waves, maybe slightly pulled back or a loose braid. It works especially well in the cooler weather when you don't have to worry about heat and humidity."

Tracy, who created these styles, adds that they can be accented with headbands, feather combs, organza rosettes, tiaras and even a bit of autumn. And, of course, the look is great with veils.
