Through mutual friends, Brooks and I met nearly eight years ago while both attending school in Newport, R.I. After spending five years in a long-distance relationship, I made the big move from Manhattan to Manchester, N.H. A year after living together, and while enjoying dinner together at our favorite wine bar, Corks at the Bedford Village Inn, a puff pastry box was presented as an appetizer. It was holding my engagement ring. Brooks and I tied the knot one late, sunny summer day on Lake Winnipesaukee with our closest friends and family members in attendance.
