NHMB: Do you design the floral scheme for your brides from scratch, or do you prefer that they come to you with specific ideas of what they want?
RH: Sometimes people just give me a budget and some colors and leave it up to us to get the best for their dollar at the market and create something beautiful for them. Those always turn out to be the most beautiful and interesting arrangements. But in general, I like for a client to have some idea of color for their dresses and suits and to tell me what they do not like, after which point we can make choices together.
NHMB: What local, New Hampshire elements do you incorporate into your work?
RH: Oh what don't we?! Birch branches, birch bark bouquet wraps, birch containers for centerpieces, river rock, lichen, mosses, explosion grass (love this!), fresh peonies and dahlia, driftwood on occasion, tree stumps, wine barrels from local wineries, birch arbors, wood bark vases...and more!
NHMB: Anything else we should know?
RH: Yes. Many of our clients are destination-wedding clients. Often, I do not even meet them until their wedding day! We have worked hard and developed a system (which we think is a good one!) make things for both our destination weddings and our local clients as simple as possible. Many couples tell me how thankful they are the ease of ordering their flowers from us.
