Have Your Wedding at a Local NH Brewery

Tap into the craft beer scene for a hip, casual wedding.

Instead of the usual mixing-of-sand ceremony, the couple mixed two different kinds of beer. Woven into the trellis above them were hops vines. The reception centerpieces were barley stalks set in growlers. Table numbers had “Cheers” written next to them in different languages. Four barrels of different craft beers were on draught.

You get the picture. A beer-themed wedding for beer aficionados — at a brewery. It’s definitely trending.

“In the past two years, we’ve had a wedding at the brewery almost every weekend,” says Ryan Fleming, banquet and events manager at Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth. “It’s a fun atmosphere, much more informal.”

It’s that, but there are also other reasons for their popularity. Breweries have an industrial vibe — exposed brick, rich wood, metal tanks — that many couples like. There’s also the fact that they’re less expensive than many other venues.

Breweries like Redhook can accommodate people who’d rather have champagne, but raising a pint glass is the perfect toast for lovers of beer.

Looking for a bit of New Hampshire historical charm to go along with your craft brews? The recently opened Hobb's Brewery and Tavern in West Ossipee has a 360-seat tavern, located in a totally rehabbed suspension barn that is the only one still standing in the state.

The Woodstock Inn Station and Brewery in North Woodstock offers all the comforts of a cozy country inn with the benefit of fantastic beer and great food. It also happens to be located on a charming main street in a part of New Hampshire famous for its picturesque natural scenery.
