NH MAGAZINE'S BRIDE: Where are you located? Where are you willing to travel to shoot?

KATE PREFTAKES:  I am located in Mont Vernon, NH, and travel throughout New England and beyond.

NHMB: How would you describe your style of photography?

KP: My style is a blend of fine art and documentary photography. I love beautiful, natural portraits and details!

NHMB: Who is your ideal client?

KP: My ideal client is, most importantly, a couple that is completely in love and just happy to be getting married. That takes away a lot of the stress and lets the day unfold in a wonderful, happy way. I also love brides that have a lot of attention to detail as it makes for beautiful photos.

NHMB: What is your favorite part of the wedding day to capture?

KP: My favorite part of the wedding day is the getting ready process. I love the freshness of the details and the wonderful energy that surrounds the anticipation of the day ahead.

NHMB: How and when did you get into this business?

KP: After receiving my degree in fine art, I began working with wedding photographers and discovered that I loved the energy and beauty of weddings. I love applying my fine art skills to weddings and capturing all the beautiful details of the day. I have been photographing weddings for over 12 years.

NHMB: What’s your all-time favorite moment or the wackiest moment you’ve encountered while shooting a wedding?

KP: I have many as they are all so special, but one of my highlights was photographing Yo Yo Ma as he played a concert to the bride and groom at their ceremony.

NHMB: What is your favorite place to shoot in New Hampshire?

KP: I absolutely love photographing weddings at private homes. They are so personal and unique. Every bit of NH is beautiful, so you really can’t go wrong!
