Vendor Profile: Lotus Floral Designs

To help you get to know some of the top-notch photographers, florists, and other vendors working in the New Hampshire wedding scene, we at Bride are implementing a new series of vendor profiles. In each profile, we'll give you a taste of the vendor's style and some examples of their work — from their favorite assignments to their best bouquets.

Meet Southern NH florists Lotus Floral Designs. Lotus has appeared in Real Weddings and inspiration shoots in Bride's pages in the past, and their team (helmed by Mary Trombley) has been making gorgeous florals for nearly a decade. Read on to learn all about these Concord-area artists.

NHMB: How would you describe your floral-arranging style?

MT: Lotus' style is interesting and organic. A love of art and nature really keeps the playing field wide open stylistically.

NHMB: Who is your ideal client?

MT: Our ideal clients are not looking for a staged, overly manicured look. Trusting in our artistry is also important.

NHMB: How and when did you get into this business?

MT: I started delivering flowers as a teenager for extra cash, and then I worked the front counter, where I learned all the different flower varieties. I got a degree in art and was planning on being a videographer. In 2007, a friend's sister was getting married, and I did the flowers and video. I preferred the creativity of the floral design and decided to focus on flowers as my primary medium.

NHMB: What local, New Hampshire elements do you incorporate into your work?

MT: We have a custom birch arbor we rent, wood slices and stumps, and lots of rustic accents for decor. We love taking advantage of the natural beauty of New Hampshire and historical sites/venues for photo shoots. [We also use] local, native seasonal flowers like lilacs, dahlias and sunflowers from local growers.

NHMB: Do you design the floral scheme for your brides from scratch, or do you prefer that they come to you with specific ideas of what they want?

MT: I'm happy to brainstorm with couples and assist in the overall design concept of their florals or execute the specific design they envision. My goal is for them to be comfortable and trust that they are in good hands so that they feel no stress as far as their wedding florals are concerned.
