Wedding Gown Inspiration at the Balsams
Tucked into a deep valley amid the mountains of New Hampshire’s northernmost county is a place that, for centuries, has been a bright spot in that remote area. It’s The Balsams, a resort hotel named for the fragrant firs that surround it. It was the scene of many weddings until 2011, when it closed. Now it’s coming to life again, with new owners who plan to make it better than ever. Photography by Philbrick Photography Gowns provided by A Day to Remember Bridal Boutique
Gown: The familiar red roofs of the historic hotel provide a backdrop for an Anne Barge strapless mermaid gown with all-over beaded, lace-like embroidery. Shown in the color fawn, it also comes in ivory. It’s from the Blue Willow Collection available exclusively at A Day to Remember.
Flowers: A whimsical take on a forestry-inspired bouquet, it is made of garden hosta, wild blueberries, lavender, garden sage, sword ferns and dusty miller.
Gown: A lace cap sleeve and sheer low back are featured on this light gold with ivory lace gown by Eddy K. The designer uses a mix of laces and on-trend latticework detailing to create a work of art. Also available in solid ivory. Exclusive to A Day to Remember.
Flowers: With a garden-gathered look, this bouquet is a soft palette of blush garden roses, lavender and delphinium.
This gown, by Justin Alexander, features a timeless lace high neckline that pairs beautifully with a clean taffeta skirt, which is also available in silk Dupioni. The classic ballgown is accented with buttons leading down to the end of a chapel-length train. Shown in nude/ivory, it also comes in solid ivory. Available exclusively at A Day to Remember.
This gown from the Blue collection by Enzoani is a stretch georgette mermaid style featuring an alluring V-neckline and exquisite lace detailing on the illusion back. Crystal buttons on the back add a little sparkle. The gown also has a show-shopping train with intricate lace on tulle inserts. Available exclusively at A Day to Remember.
Gown: A sheer illusion neckline that is “barely there” and a keyhole back are features of this lace trumpet gown from Eddy K. The champagne color of the underlay coming through the ivory lace combines to give a blush appearance to the gown. Also available in solid ivory. Exclusive to A Day to Remember.
Flowers: With the look of being freshly gathered from the garden, this bouquet includes green Dutch hydrangea, poppy pods, scabiosa pods, fresh garden stock and thistle with silver dollar eucalyptus.
Cleaner styles with minimal lace and beading, like this one from Eddy K, are trending for the coming year. There’s also a resurgence of bows.
